What are my options after losing teeth?

Tooth loss can make you feel self-conscious about your smile. Dental implants can restore that confidence by enhancing your functionality and overall oral health. Choose the longest-lasting, most secure tooth replacement option and start smiling again. Whether you’re missing one tooth or a full arch of teeth, we have permanent replacement options to meet every need.

Dental Implants

Dental implants consist of a metal implant that’s placed directly into your gums and jaw, along with an implant restoration (such as a crown) that permanently attaches to the implant. At Springbrook Family Dentistry, our dentists specialize in dental implant preparation, placement, and restoration.

Implant Overdentures

With an implant supported denture, we will place 2-4 implants that your denture will snap onto. These implants provide stability and keep your denture from moving while you eat or talk. This will give the denture a much more natural feel and your ability to chew will greatly increase from a standard denture. You will still be able to remove your denture from your mouth which allows proper cleaning of both the implants and your denture.

Our dental implant solutions

We offer a wide range of dental implant solutions here in Elma. Take our quiz to see if dental implants are right for you, or schedule your FREE consultation today.

Single-Tooth Implants

Single tooth implants are embedded directly into the jaw, acting as the tooth’s root. When the site heals, the crown will be attached over the post via an “abutment.” Crowns are highly durable and look like natural teeth. Due to their stability, crowns can last for decades, while implants can last a lifetime.

Starting at $3,500 or monthly financing at $292

(not including an extraction or bone graft)

Implant Overdentures

Implant-retained dentures are a great solution for those looking for a permanent replacement for a full set of teeth. They are one of the most secure options available as they are attached to the jaw. This means they won’t be sliding around your mouth, so brushing, eating, and performing regular functions won’t be any different than natural teeth.

Starting at $6,000

How It Works:

The dental implant placement and restoration process

The Initial Consultation

During the initial consultation, we will take a thorough exam of your mouth. This includes taking x-rays so that your doctor can assess your oral health and jaw bone density. To be a good candidate for dental implants, good oral health is important. Your Elma dentist will go over your exam with you and discuss if you meet the requirements of dental implants, or go over alternative treatment options.

Your Oral Surgery Treatment

After your consultation, we will provide a detailed, personalized treatment plan and schedule your appointment for oral surgery. Before the procedure, your dentist will create a small incision in the gum line. This incision is where your dentist will carefully place the implant into your jaw bone. The implant, a screw-shaped titanium post, will bond with your natural bone. Then your incision will be cleaned and disinfected so the healing process can safely begin.

Healing & Osseointegration

Your gums will begin healing immediately after the implants have been placed. It takes about 2 weeks or less to heal after the procedure. However, for the implant to permanently bond with the jaw, a process called “osseointegration,” it will take between 3 to 6 months.

Creating the Prosthetic

Throughout the healing process, you’ll visit our office several times so that we can ensure that the implant is successfully bonding with your jaw. To check this, your dentist will take impressions of your bite. We will then send those impressions to our trusted dental lab where they will create the custom dental prosthetic that will connect to your dental implant.

Applying the Restoration

When the bonding process is complete and we receive your completed dental prosthetic, you’ll return for your final visit. Your dentist will then affix the restoration to your implant and secure it with an adhesive (usually a dental cement). This will permanently secure the restoration to your dental implant. After this, you’ll walk out of our practice with a smile that you are satisfied with!

Maintenance & Aftercare

When it comes to maintenance and aftercare, dental implants don’t require any special care. Incorporating good oral hygiene practices can assure that your implants last a lifetime! Just be sure to brush twice a day, or preferably after every meal, and floss daily. It would also be beneficial to schedule dental exams every six months for routine cleanings and exams. Practicing good dental hygiene is the best way to keep your implants healthy so that they can withstand for a lifetime!

How it works:

The dental implant placement and restoration process

Placement

Once you’ve been approved for treatment, your doctor will schedule your oral surgery appointment and provide a surgical plan. During the surgery, your dentist in Flagstaff will make an incision in your gum tissue to securely place a dental implant in the jaw. Next, the area will be cleaned and sutures will be placed to begin the healing process.

Healing & Osseointegration

Your gums and jawbone will begin to heal once your implant has been placed. After 1-2 weeks, the incision site will be healed, but it will take 3-6 months for the implant to permanently bond with your jaw bone through a process called osseointegration. To ensure you are healing properly, we will see you for a couple of check ups during the osseointegration process.

Applying The Restoration

The final step in the implant treatment process is the restoration. Your restoration, or prosthetic dental crown, will be custom crafted to match your smile and securely affixed to the titanium implant. Once your new tooth is in place, your smile will be complete!

Cori George

"I have always avoided the dentist due to past issues, I had my first appointment with Dr. Finney today to replace a filling and she was absolutely amazing. She listened to all my concerns and even gave me extra time when I needed it. Needless to say, I booked my next appointment with her and her staff and even set my husband up with his first appointment with the practice. I love that it’s a family environment instead of a chain dentistry."

Have Questions About Invisalign?

Find Answers Here

If you have minor or moderate orthodontic issues, you are likely a good candidate for treatment with Invisalign. So long as your mouth is free of any oral health issues like gum disease or tooth decay, you will probably be eligible to proceed with treatment. However, Invisalign is not for everyone. Severe orthodontic issues may not be able to be addressed with Invisalign. In these cases, we usually recommend treatment with traditional metal or ceramic braces as they can provide more powerful results. To find out about your options for orthodontic treatment, schedule your consultation today!

While Invisalign trays look very similar to night guards and mouthguards, we do not recommend that you use Invisalign as a nightguard. The clear plastic trays are designed to gently shift your teeth, not protect them. If you grind your teeth at night, we may recommend that you get a night guard to protect your teeth and go with traditional braces instead of Invisalign. If you wear your aligners at night and notice that they are becoming cracked or worn down, this may be a sign that you are grinding your teeth at night. This will affect your treatment so be sure to let your doctor know right away if you think you might be grinding your teeth.

The cost of treatment with Invisalign is usually comparable to the cost of traditional braces. Every case is different, though, so it’s important to discuss your budget with your doctor. During your consultation, your doctor will consider multiple factors including your needs, your lifestyle, and your budget before helping you decide which treatment to proceed with.

Invisalign aligners are nearly impossible to see when wearing them. This is because they are made out of clear plastic and are perfectly fit to your smile. Your trays will be custom-made trimmed to fit to your gum line for a more seamless look. Plus there are no metal brackets or wires, so you can feel confident in your smile throughout treatment. However, if you eat or drink with your aligners in, they could become stained, making them more visible.

These clear aligners are designed onto a mold of your teeth. A lab technician will apply layers of a photo-sensitive liquid resin to this custom mold. Next, the technician will expose this resin to a laser, curing it into a hard, yet flexible, thermoplastic. This plastic is called SmartTrack®, and it was created exclusively for Invisalign treatment. It’s FDA-approved and contains no BPA, BPS, latex, or gluten.
